Some weeks ago my friend Laura asked me if I wanted to order some art supplies with her, I finally did and I ordered a Prismacolor Blue 2H pencil and a pack of Sakura Pigma Micron fineliners. I got them yertserday, so I decided to give them a try.

At first I wasn't very happy with the pencil, I mean, I can see the blue better than the grey but it's more difficult to erase it although it's an special pencil for sketching but, anyway, it seems that the watercolors covered it pretty well. On the other hand, I'm very happy with the fineliners because they are water-resistant and they have a pretty dark color but, you need to be careful when you pass your eraser over it, because it'll eat the blacks!

About the drawing, I wantd to draw Chizuru Yukimura (from Hakuouki ~Shinsengumi Kitan~) on her Oiran (NOT GEISHA) outfit for a long time, so I though this would be the perfect opportunity. At first I thought I was going to die with all the details of her kimono, but I decided not to overload it with all the details and I ended up doing just the patterns on the red part of it.

I wanted to do it in a Art Nouveau style, since I love it A LOT, so I searched for some frame refferences until I got this. I must say that I'm pretty proud of it, since I had to remove the dust from my compass tool, which I hadn't used for years!

The piece was painted using water colors and some metallic pencils and markers for the details.

Of course, I had to edit the colors A LOT to make them look better once I scanned it, here's a comparisson between the unedited piece and the edited one (you must know that scanners ALWAYS kills the colors! so a bit of edditing is always reccomended). At the end I decied to add some japanese patterns to the background.

Carmilla The Vampire Queen

Lately I've been playing the first Castlvania Lords of Shadow, and I've really enjoyed it! I always wanted to play any Castlevania title, and Lords of Shadows gave me the big opportunity to do it xD.

I decided to draw Carmilla not only because I like vampires (the old school ones), but also because I fell in love with her human form design! she's such a beautiful yet deadly female.

At first I made a previous sketch that I didn't liked at all, that's why I decided to make another one, and this came out. I wanted to reflect her sensual figure, but also her deadli side, that's why she has dome blood on her left hand. 

I also had to make a lot of research no only for her outfit, but I also had to search for tons of gothic building references in order to draw the window as accurate as possible (Carmilla's Castle from the first LoS is a gothic one). For drawing Carmilla, I wanted to stay as away as possible from my anime style.

I don't know how many time it took me to draw the whole piece, but it took me about 4 hours to paint it. Here you can see the two Speed Paint Videos I made (and it's the first time that I've recorded me while painting the whole background):

[Lightning Returns FB Contest] Shadow Chaser

Some weeks ago Koch Media Spain hold another Lightning Returns design contest. We also had to design her a new armor, but this time we didn't had the sames restrictions as on deviantART.

I decided to draw her wearing some kinf od "light" armor, as she only uses a breastplate and a shoulderguard. At first I thought that the breastplate came out a bit plain, that's why I added that kind of pattern to it, and I think it looks pretty good. I also wanted to keep something roman-alike , ans that's why I added the rope on the sides and the middle of the outfit. She also uses a blue transparent cape with an swirly pattern on the bottom part of it.

Since it's an spear based armor, it doesn't hsa a very big/heavy shield, but a simple armguard with claws on the top. The armor is very light, so she can move quicly, and it's water/wind elemental.

This desing didn't won, as in deviantART. It seems that you need to design a battle bikini in order to win.

Lightning Returns Contest Entries

A few weeks ago deviantART held a contest along with Square Enix to celebrate the launch of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the last title of the FFXIII triology.  We (the participants) had some troubles with the contest rules, since we understood that we had to design outfits for lightning which could be original or based on the FFXIII universe, while some other people understood that we could only do the second thing. Anyway, I ended up making three different entries, come are fully-original and the others are based on the FFXIII universe:

Rising Phoenix

For me, Lightning resembles, in some way, to a phoenix, since she has fallen and rised so many times, as phoenix do. She started being a soldier, then she was made a L'Cie, Champion of Etro and now she's the Savior, and I think that's like living so many different lifes.

The armour consists on a golden breastplate, a gloden choker, an armguard two leg-guards and a knee protector (this one and the armguard has the shape of a flame).
The other parts of her clothing consits on a leather top (where the back feathers are attached), a pair of leather shorts with a zipper on the sides, a pair of stockings, leather boots (with zippers on the middle and fire ornaments on the tip), leather belts a short glove on her shield hand decorated with feathers and a long fingerless glove decorated with diamonds in the knuckles. She also wears a cape which has the shape of three phoenix tails attached to the back of the leather top. The white thing is based on an ancient rome robe and it's attached using a rounded golden piece with a phoenix drawn on it.

This is a fire elemental armor which can absorb part of the fire-based attacks, enhances the effect of healing items/skills, increases the Attack Speed and he HP a bit.

Crystal Knight

I made this armor taking a little refference from her XIII-2 armor and played a bit with the shapes. The metal is specially worked to make it resemble to a crystalised L'Cie, plus this is a reminder to Lightning's L'Cie past.

Under the armor she wears a corset, a pair of little shorts (not seen here), elastic gloves and thighs andleather boots and belts. She also wears some pearls as an ornament and some crystal tears to resemble Serah's one.
The Sword and shield are also made of crystal.

This armor elements are Blizzard and Aero (or Wind, I don't know the name of the english version), and it's specially effective against Cie'th enemies. It's a very heavy armor, but also a very powerful one. It gives a high protection.

The hairpin has the ame shape as the shield.

I based the this outfit on Lightning's one from FFXIII, but I altered the shape of some parts. Also, some of the accesories and patterns are based on monsters and characters from the whole FFXIII saga, they are:

- Snow Villiers (boots)
- Caius Ballad (purple thing on her hips)
- Cid Raines / Yaag Rosch (leather bracelet on her left arm)
- Lumina (thing on her right arm and necklace)
- Zaltys (neck piece of the coat and arrow thing.
- Anubis (the squared things on the tighs and sword)
- Bhunivelze (pattern of the jacket and shield)

The jacket, skirt, bracelet and boots are made of leather, she also has a little top under the jacket, one long glove and claws in one of her hands. The claws, the decorations of the neck of the jacket and that kind of "arrow" at the bottom of the jacket are made of gold, and the blue and green parts are gems.

The main elements of this outfit are darkness and lightning, it has a low defense, but a very high speed.

We also had problems with the sizeof the file, since it was a bit weird and didn't let us show all the detaills of our designs.
Anyway, I'm happy to have designed some outfits for my fave female Final Fantasy Character, plus Tetsuya Nomura will be the judge!

The contest resutls will be given the on the 7th, 8tn and 99th of March, so wish me luck! (I don't really think I'll win anything xD).

Vivi Ornitier

So I've been wanting to paint something traditionally for a long time, and I also wanted to draw Vivi Ornitier from Final Fantasy IX for a long time, that's why I decided to do both at the same time xD.

Anyway, I had to search for a some references for Vivi, since there were some details of his outfit that I couldn't remember well, by doing this I remembered that he also appeared in Kingdom Hearts II (I totally forgot!!) and I though on drawing him using the outfit he has on that game, but I still prefer this one :3. The sketch was done on a regular paper and then transferred to a drawing block.

The parts that probably gave me more headaches were his pants, his head and the hat, his hands weren't as hard as imagined they would be. I also enjoyed a lot painting him, I used almost the entire pencil box because I like to try the colors a lot xD.

I had to enhance the colours using photoshop, since the scanner ruined them ¬¬.

I can't forgive myself for not having written the entry for this piece until today! D: (it was made at the begining of december 2013 D:)

Aidiki-chan uploaded the sketch of this man on Facebook, and since she said she wasn't going to colour it, I asked for her permission to do it.

For me, this was the excuse to paint a male torso and to play with lights, since I always wanted to paint something where the light source is on the back of the character xD.

I painted everything on Sai and then made al the light effects on photoshop. I put a lot of effort on painting his skin, specially on his chest :3. I also added some textures to his clothes.

YAY! I finally managed to finish this one! I started the first sketch of it on the 20th of August, and I finished it yesterday! LOL

I wanted to work with watercolors for some time, and I felt like I should give a try to them again with this drawing.

The first thing I did was to search for toons of refferences for Lightning, since I didn't know in which kind of pose to draw her. I finally decided to draw her using her chrystarium to summon Odin, and then it's when the really headache came! xD.

My main idea was to draw Odin in his human form, but I couldn't find any good refferences for him, so I searched for a way to draw him in his horse form in the space that I had in blank. At first I thought I was gonna die because he has a lot of details! (and zippers, LOL), but I really like how it came out at the end.

I started to color thw background first: I did a blue gradient and then added some drops of red and dark blue watercolors, then I inclined the paper a bit tho get the effect of the falling drops. Finally, I mixed a bit of water with white acrylic to make it more liquid, and I used a big brush to make the white dots.

Painting the characters was I bit harder than I expected, since I didn't know how to get some of the colours!. I was also a bit confused about Odin's armor color...because sometimes is green, other is somekind of blue, and other times it has some gray tones! D:

Once I was done with painting everything, I mixed the white acrylic with water again and I used it to bring some light.

I couldn't scan the drawing since my scanner was too small and the paper was bigger! so I had to take a photo of it. I had to use Photoshop to straighten the drawing, editing the white zones and enhance the colours, since in the photo they came out pretty dark.

I'm not an expert at using watercolors, but I'll give you some usefull advices:

1. Moisten some zones beafore adding the base color, it'll be easier for you to add it and it can give you some interesting effects, but be carefull not to add a lot of water! use a tissue to reduce it.

2. After adding another layer of colour, wait for the first one to dry, or it can ruin everything if you're not careful enough!

Sharrkan The Swordsmaster

Sharrkan!
I've been working on this piece during all this week! I really wanted to draw Sharrkan since I made Yamuraiha's drawing and, since that piece was made for a Magi Fanbook I thought of doing this drawing also for it!
I had to look for toons of refferences to make the Kobra...and it was kinda weird, since I found pictures about anything but Kobras xDD. You may ask why did I put a kobra on it, and that's because I read that the pople in Sharrkan's country (Heliopblahblah) always wear a kobra or something with their shape xD.
Anyway, it was funny and entertaining to paint the kobra, but Sharrkan gave me some headaches since when I started painting his skin he turned to be pretty skinny xD!

I hope that this and my Yamuraiha piece would be printed in the fanbook, wish me luck!

Yamuraiha The Sea Witch

I wanted to draw a marine background for a long time, so I thought that Yamuraiha (from Magi) was the perfect victim for this, since she's a water elemental magician.

It was quite funny to make all the corals, I had to look for toons of refferences on google, and I also had to try to make their textures, and I think it didn't came out really bad. I really like how the Elk horns and the brain looking ones came out. The entire piece was done in Sai, excepting the effect on the top and the bubbles, which were drawn and painted in Sai and then modified in Photoshop.

I also tried to make a semi-realistic style for Yamuraiha's face, I think it didn't came out really bad, I'm really happy with the results of this piece.

I'm trying to enter to a Magi fanbook with this piece and the Judal one I did long ago, so wish me luck! 8D

I did somo mini-sketches of this drawing before doing the final one, I needed to draw the pose without looking to any refference, and I think it didn't turn out really bad, but I still think that I need more practise on drawing abs and foots xD.

The background gave me a lot of headaches since I firstly wanted to do something with perspective, but I'm a fail at ot, so I did the one you see in the image xD.

This is a drawing I did for a Final Fantasy themed art contest.
At first I wanted to draw Lightning and Odin from FFXIII, but I couldn't draw their poses as I wanted, so I started to think in other FF characters. I asked my friends (~Cinty-Helios and ~Paopu-Elric) what should I draw, and they recommended me to draw an FFIX character, since my PSX broke when I was playing it I didn't know who to draw, but then they told me to draw Kuja. I always found him to be a really interesting character, so I asked them to tell me more things about him, that's why I've choosen Terra as the scenary of this drawing xD.

Anyway, I didn't won the contest, and I don't think I'll participate again unless they change some things of the organization, which was very pityful...not to talk about the results...art thiefs everywhere...

I have to say that Kuja has an interesting design, but he is hard to draw as hell! and I don't like how his feets came out...I suck at drawing them u.u

This is another collaboration work between my friend Debby and I. She did the lines, then I fized them, added some more details and painted it.

She asked me to paint this drawing some weeks ago and, since this weekend was raining and I wouldn't go out, I decided to paint it, It took less time than I spected.

I also made an alternarive version (the black/white & red one) just to show Misa's Shinigami eyes and because I find all of those black and white images plus some other colour really interesting and beautiful <3.

The Wolf and The Seer

WOW! I've been working on this drawing for MONTHS! 

I had the cleaned lineart and the base colors finished for months! but I didn't managed to finish it until today, since I felt very lazy to make the background (when I started to work on it, I discovered that it wasn't as hard as I though xD).

They are Viola and Z.W.E.I from Soul Calibur V, my fave characters of this new SC title.

I've choosen the 2P outfit of viola since the 1P one is already seen, and this one is pretty beautiful, I really like all of those details line the moons and the roses. Her hair was hard to work...I should practise curly hairs more!

Z.W.E.I was difficult to draw, and not only because i'm not used to draw males. It is very difficult for me to integrate two characters in the same piece of paper, so this was some kind of exercise for me.

The orb was also difficult to do, since I didn't know how to put the layers to make it look like I wanted >-<.

Tha background is based on Viola's stage.

This is a tribute drawing I did to the Inheritance Cycle. I've been a very big fan of this books since my grandfather started to bought them for me when I was a child. Recentrly, I've been reading the last book of the saga, but I just can't finish it.

Anyway, I did my interpretation of the characters, since Murtagh's description changed a bit in some point of the books, and I didn't wanted to get influenced by the movie (which was one of the worst adaptations I've ever seen). I also added some thorns to Thorn's wings, just to notice more his name xDDD.

It took me about two weeks, more or less, since I didn't had enough time to finish it as quicly as I wanted.

YAY! I've finally got some time to finish it!

She's Amy Sorel from Soul Calibur IV.

This drawing gave me a lot of headaches, such as the pose (specially her feets) and the position of the hand which isn't holding Albion (the sword). However, I think that the result isn't bad and I liked a lot how the background came out.

This is a gift for my friend Elena of her World of Warcraft character Elnett and her undead horse.
It was very funny tho draw and paint but also a pain! specially the armor and the bones of the skulls and the horse, it was also a good practice of painting metal en jewelry elements, I think it didn't came out really bad.
It has passed a lot of time since I made my last nouveau frame~ I really enjoy making them! xD.

Oh! I also used a new tool that I've never used on Paint Tool SAI, it's the acrylic brush~ I really liked it <3.

PS: DOn't look for this armor in game, because I've invented it xD.

I didn't had enough time to finish my crhistmas drawing, so you can treat this one as a late crhistmas drawing xDDD...

I really like how the colouring came out, specially her hair (has someone noticed that I've changed my hair colouring style?) because is shiny~ but the thing I don't really like about it is the gray part of the dress :\.

I was listening to FFXIII OST while I was painting this drawing, specially to "Kimi Ga Iru kara", what a wonderful song~

YAY! Mermaids again xDDD
This is Sara from Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, my favourite character along with Rina, Gaitô and Seira <3.
This time, I tried to add more complication to this drawing, I did my best at simulating the scales and the sea waves...butI don't really like how the rocks came out >_<.

PS: Yeah, I haven't drawn her necklace, since I find it ugly! D:
